Rondleiding Passie voor Vogels

This tour for those interested in ornithological field research provides more depth to the exhibition Passion for Birds.

The exhibition Passion for birds uses diaries, objects, photos and film fragments to show how field research into birds developed in the Netherlands from the first half of the previous century to around 1970. With enormous creativity, the pioneers of that time laid a good foundation for current bird research. The notes, photos and objects that the pioneers used have been well preserved, partly due to the work of the Ornithological Research Working Group (WOE), part of the Dutch Ornithological Union (NOU). During this tour, Frank de Miranda, chairman of the WOE, and Gerard Ouweneel, active member, will provide an insight into the securing of these objects. They will also provide more information about the seven pioneers who are discussed in the exhibition and how field research has become increasingly professional since the 1970s. Above all, the tour is an opportunity to ask questions to experts about the development of ornithological research.
