R'damse Visies #5: Een nieuwe stad

During this theme evening, we will delve into the future of Rotterdam, with a panel of experts from the business community, the government and involved Rotterdammers. The starting point? The challenges and opportunities that await the city under the new mayor. Together with the audience, we will discuss urgent themes such as homelessness, housing shortage, mental health among young people, inclusivity and sustainability. How do we view the housing shortage, inequality of opportunity and discrimination? What steps do we need to take now to make Rotterdam a future-proof city?

Reflection and Future

We look back on the past years: what went well, and what needs to change? Then we turn our gaze to the future. What will Rotterdam look like in ten years? What are the first, crucial steps that we need to take together? We want to pass on the insights and ideas of this evening to the new mayor, accompanied by a message: congratulations, but there is also work to be done.

Introduction : Host Ghyzlene Kramer-Zeroual guides us through the theme of the evening.

Vision : Mieke Megawati Vlasblom, activist and former BIJ1 party leader, shares her personal journey through Rotterdam and how her experiences have shaped her vision of the city. She speaks openly about major themes such as racism, accessibility and the housing shortage in Rotterdam.

Expert discussion : A round table discussion with invited experts. Including Vincent Luyendijk (founder/owner IN10, bureau for innovation and design), Peter Groenendijk ( Political reporter AD Rotterdam) and Roffa Takkies.

Interaction : After the expert discussion, you will have the opportunity to participate. Ask your questions, share your ideas, and actively participate in the discussion. Your input is essential!
