Rachel Sermanni

Rachel Sermanni is an enchanting singer-songwriter from the Scottish highlands, whose performance and lyrics draw from a deep well of mysticism, dreams, nature and the complexity of human life. Her graceful, sepia-toned folk songs, inspired by jazz, rock and contemporary indie, are almost magical and transport the listener to the rugged and green nature of Scotland. Her sound is strongly reminiscent of the stories of Agnes Obel, but also of the accessibility of Mumford & Sons of Fink. Rachel is no longer a stranger in Rotterdam; she has already performed at Motel Mozaïque, Rotown, De Unie and on the intimate lower deck of Vessel 11.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, Rachel released her fourth studio album 'Dreamer Awake'. On this record she channeled the experience of motherhood and coming to terms with the end of a long-term relationship. Sermanni delved deep into her psyche and returned with songs that sharply reflect the depth of these violent changes. It highlights both the difficult aspects and the power that a difficult emotional experience can provide.
