1950. William Lee (Daniel Craig), an American expatriate in Mexico City, spends his days alone, except for a few acquaintances from the small American community. A meeting with Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), a former soldier and new to town, shows him for the first time that it might be possible to build an intimate connection with someone.
