Queen of disco
Queen of Disco is a music theatre performance about the irresistible rise, tragic fall and inevitable rebirth of disco music, embodied by the life of disco icon and flamboyant LGBTQ activist SYLVESTER.
DISCO emerged from the black and Latino gay club circuit in New York in the early 1970s and quickly became a worldwide music movement. It coincided with the emancipation of the LGBTQ community. The whole world was on the dance floor dancing to disco music and it was one big party. In the early 1980s there was a hard decline. Disco disappeared underground again, only to conquer the world again years later as House music.
