Petra Nachtmanova & Ceyhun Kaya

Ceyhun Kaya and Petra Nachtmanova take you on a musical journey through the folk songs of Anatolia, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Their unique sound was created during the Beynelmilel concert series, where they present a special combination of the Anatolian Dede Sazi and the Georgian Panduri, instruments that belong to the same family of three-stringed lutes.

Eastern Europe and Anatolia are the cradle of the largest migrant groups in Berlin, and the music of the Caucasus has also found a place in various communities here.

The versatile musician Ceyhun Kaya, hailing from the Black Sea region, is a co-founder of the successful Turkish bands Cümbüş Cemaat and Bandista. He has also performed as a soloist with Pinhani and Fuat Saka, among others. Since 2015, he calls Berlin his home.

After studying history, Petra Nachtmanova developed a passion for folk music from Eastern Europe, Anatolia and Central Asia. She sang for many years with the Bulgarian Voices Berlin, co-founded the Berlin band Tralalka, and shines as the main character in the Arte documentary “SAZ”.
