Orange Skyline
For fans of: The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, Son Mieux, Circa Waves.
Groningen’s Orange Skyline started out as a four-piece, but has since grown into a six-piece stage animal. Their dynamic mix of energetic Britpop and tear-jerking alt-rock exudes a grand, compelling energy—perfectly captured in their self-proclaimed description: “a stadium act in a small venue.” With a dash of Alex Turner and a pinch of Liam Gallagher, they combine energetic songwriting with a melancholic undertone. They make you dance to songs about broken hearts—an impressive quality in a rock band.
That talent doesn’t go unnoticed. Their track A Fire was voted the Dutch anthem of the Winter Games in Beijing, singer Stefan van der Wielen made it to the sixth round of De Slimste Mens, and their show at Pinkpop was one of the highlights of the festival. With two new band members and a fresh dose of ambition, they are aiming for the top. The first step? Their new single I Don’t Dance—an irresistible song that is guaranteed to get your feet off the ground.
