Live@Dox The Tommyrots Oct 25 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Four gentlemen from Rotterdam/Delft, also known as The Tommyrots (loosely translated as 'the nonsense') celebrate the nonsense of life by making serious music. The Tommyrots create memorable melodies and powerful hooks with their own songs, reminiscent of the heyday of pop rock from the 60s/70s, without sounding dated; but precisely to also stimulate the young ears. Winners of both the Peter Tetteroo Bokaal and the Grote Prijs van Rotterdam - Audience Award, this promises something!

Latin Café Oct 25 9:00 PM - 12:30 AM

In collaboration with the Nieuwe Luxor Theater we organize a special Latincafé Dox to end a festive day! After the opening the evening will be closed with a cozy edition of Latincafé Dox! Expect the tastiest Salsa, Bachata, Merengue and Kizomba in an atmospheric setting.

Women Connected Installation Oct 26 11:30-15:00 and 15:30-23:00

Embroidered Power Bags: An Art Installation by Women Connected

Since the end of 2022, Women Connected has been working on the special textile artwork "Power Bags" for and by women who have settled in Rotterdam. Through craftsmanship and personal stories, we create a unique image of the resilience and diversity in our city. This installation contains just a small selection of the more than 500 power bags that have been made so far, and our collection is still growing. You can experience this special collection in two ways: physically and digitally.

Workshop Power Bags 26 Oct 11:30-15:00 and 15:30-23:00

What are Power Bags?

Krachtzakken are small, embroidered self-portraits. The makers of the self-portraits then fill the bag with an object from which they draw strength. Some bags are filled with very special objects, such as herbs for favourite recipes from Morocco, a Frisian song, precious stones from Indonesia, a toy scooter, a photo of family... from beautiful objects from the area to old memories from home. The krachtzakken tell the story of the resilience, passion and perseverance of the Rotterdam woman. Your krachtzakje will then become part of the travelling exhibition.

Performance Tour Oct 26 12:45-2:00 PM, 2:30-3:30 PM and 4:00 PM-5:00 PM

Take a tour of places in the new Luxor Theater that you normally don't go to. Along the way you will encounter (music) theatrical performances by Esther Nijhove (IMPACT), Natasja Bodde (Spraakuhloos) and students of Codarts Muziektheater.

Esther Nijhove

Esther Nijhove is a singer (messenger), traveler (stewardess), helper (social worker) and expert by experience in the field of domestic violence and trauma processing (healer). As a semi-finalist of The Voice of Holland, a full-time singing career was waiting for her, but she lost her passion due to the harsh music industry. In her own words, she cleared up what was in her way, and as a result, she is now back to the core and herself. Esther wants to show people that you can transform traumas into strength and hopes to share her message with the world through jazzy and soulful singing and songwriting.

Natasja Bodde

Natasja Bodde is a full-time spoken word artist and city poet of Spijkenisse. She also came second in '23 at the Grote Prijs van Gouda and was in '24 in the Oude Luxor theater during the final of the Spoken Awards. Whether it's about the packaging of a pear ice cream, or social division, everything is a starting point to touch and connect people. And she does.

Codarts Music Theatre

At Codarts Muziektheater, students are given the opportunity to not only develop themselves, but also to grow into a convincing vocal performer in the exciting universe of music theater and musicals. A performing professional who brings together music, singing, acting and dancing in a theatrical setting. The education focuses with an open curiosity on the national and international field of work: from (youth) music theater, contemporary opera, cabaret and pop performances to small and large musicals.

Xclusiv Company is an urban dance collective from Rotterdam, deeply rooted in hip hop, street and clubbing culture. We create idiosyncratic crossovers between dance, music, spoken word and visual art.

art. Our theatre performances focus on themes such as identity and diversity, based on the experiences of our makers and dancers, and stories from our communities. In our performances, the boundaries between music and dance cultures are blurred and we experiment with different styles. In this way, we bring meaningful, but above all entertaining performances to a wide audience, with a special focus on young people and people who are young at heart.

Dox&Dragons Oct 26 4:00-6:00 PM

Dear Travelers…

Welcome in Dox, this little cozy tavern is normally a quiet place. A safe harbor where travelers of all cultures come together to enjoy a drink, taste some food or listen to a bard. But tonight is a different story. In the flickering candlelight you find a few members of the 'quest-givers guild' sit at long tables. Adventurers from all places are gathering here in search for jobs, quests, excitement. Why? Some do it for the riches, others for the fame, sometimes even a mysterious reason of their own. So what is the reason behind your visit? Whatever your motivations are, it's now your turn to take place at one of the tables, join a party and roll!

On this evening, so-called “One Shots” will be held by various Dungeon Masters. These One Shots will be divided into different levels: complete beginners, D&D experts and D&D veterans. This way, you will never feel 'out of place'!

Werewolves Oct 26 6:00-8:00 PM

Time to Werewolf!

This is a game where it really comes down to who you can trust and who you can't. Strange things are happening in a small village, and no one knows who the real enemy is. Are you a smart villager who just wants to survive? Or are you a cunning werewolf who quietly takes out everyone? The game consists of two types of rounds. Each 'night' brings a new surprise, and during the day you have to think carefully about who to believe.

Can you see through the lies? Or are you playing the game better than the rest?

Mama Aisa Oct 27 11:45-12:15

A portrait of a grown woman who, for the first time since her childhood, has eyes for the girl she once was. Her inner child demands attention, sometimes screams for it, but is so often ignored in the adult world. How many women have forced that girl in themselves to become an adult at a young age, while we can benefit so much from her open-mindedness, fun and energy.

Mama Aisa is an investigative text by a woman who tries to find her former self in order to - perhaps for the first time in her life - really listen to her.

During The Lab, you can visit our open stage to try out something new or to play your own music. In addition, there are workshops and we provide all the materials to continue working on your latest drawing or painting. Proud of your work?
