Op Uw heil wacht ik

Vox Jubilans will perform the new Christmas oratorio “Op Uw heil wacht ik” after the interval in this concert. This oratorio was composed by Johan Bredewout, with texts by Hans de Ruiter.

The cry “I wait for your salvation” is from Jacob, who is lying on his deathbed and thus confesses that salvation can only come from the Lord, who has given His promises. This places him in a long line of people who have eagerly looked forward, and still look forward, to the fulfillment of God’s promises. This brings us to the Christmas story; the birth of the Messiah. Zacharias, Mary and the old Simeon also spoke about this hope and saw its fulfillment when Jesus was born. Through the birth of the Lord Jesus, His life on earth and His death and resurrection, we too may eagerly look forward to His return and His everlasting Kingdom of peace and righteousness.

Before the break there will be a varied programme of songs from the 50 years that Vox Jubilans sang in De Doelen, under different conductors.
