On Tuesdays We Smash The Patriarchy

A cozy get together with Rotterdam artists in Café Dox. Together with NANDA, Café Dox organizes a jam session every month especially for female artists. The house band is INFNTYQ led by Junalda Meiland.

In the music world, the inequality between men and women is still very large. For example, research by the American Annenberg School for Communication shows that of all popular music released between 2012 and 2022, only 22.3% of the artists are women. When we zoom in on producers in the industry, it becomes shocking: only 2.8% of them are women.

There is still a lot of inequality in the Netherlands. Only 16% of all Dutch-language music that is published is made by women and women represent only 9% of the export value of Dutch music. Not only is there a lack of representation, 34% of women in the Dutch music industry often feel that they are not taken seriously.

Reason enough for Café Dox to make room for female* artists on stage! Host is the Rotterdam singer and vocal coach NANDA.
