NL-SWITCH Orchestra

NL-SWITCH Orchestra wants to take free improvisation to a higher level. A pool of talented Rotterdam jazz musicians play together with renowned international guests in changing line-ups. Expect melodic narrative music that is adventurous and has surprising twists. Improvisation can also be beautiful.

We have Andrew Moreno, winner of the Erasmus Jazz Prize, on guitar. Theo Jörgensmann, known from De Volharding and Contraband, among others, plays clarinet. Pablo Cruz has a beautiful tone on his saxophone and creates the most beautiful melody lines. Johannes Fink is an all-round improviser who easily lays down both a contemporary sound carpet and a swing or funk groove on his cello. Peter Jacquemyn is both a poet and an energetic force on his double bass. Bert den Hoed is playful and free, but always harmonious on piano and keys. Greg Smith is a versatile drummer with a feeling for free improvisation, but can also give the orchestra the perfect groove or swing.
