The makers of Onder het Maaiveld - known for films such as De wilde stad and De nieuwe wilde - take viewers on a fascinating journey that brings the microscopic world beneath the earth's surface to life.
In addition to the world above ground, populated by plants, insects and birds, but especially by people, there is a second world: an underground community of roots, larvae, worms, fungi, bacteria, amoebas and arthropods. There are more living creatures in one teaspoon of healthy soil than there are people on earth. We are about to make a major turn in the history of our relationship with nature and our soil. But how do we tackle this? How do we learn to deal with our soil more wisely?
