Maruja

Maruja is a primal force that takes listeners to a raw reality, to the underbelly of the world. Improvisation forms the backbone of their compositions, while compelling instrumentation and culturally relevant lyrics are shared like enigmatic, whispered secrets. The dark, gloomy and menacing combination of jazz, post-punk and art rock forces you involuntarily into the deepest cracks and corners of our world. They create an atmosphere like no one else can, a darkness that only they can evoke. While listening you feel like part of a secret society dedicated to black magic, like a death eater conjuring a gigantic snake in the air.

They prove time and time again that their sound is explosive and versatile, including on the EP 'Connla's Well', released at the end of April. From the ominous atmosphere on 'The Invisible Man' to the raging rap vocals on 'Zeitgeist', Maruja finds a groove and doesn't let go until the last note is played. During Left of the Dial in 2022 they filled a packed hall in Perron with static electricity, and on this evening they will envelop Rotown in a pitch-black thunderstorm.
