About Martha High American soul and funk singer Martha High rose to worldwide fame as one of James Brown's backing vocalists in the 1960s. For over 30 years, she sang on iconic hits such as 'Papa's Got a Brand New Bag' and 'I Got You (I Feel Good)'.

She played a key role in creating Brown's signature funk sound. In addition to her work with Brown, High has released successful solo albums and remains active in the music business.
