Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists, Lucas Sim's open-minded approach allows him to absorb a diverse spectrum of musical influences and perspectives.
Born in South Korea and now based in Rotterdam, music producer, DJ and keyboardist Lucas Sim is an extremely versatile musician. He is the co-founder of the Cosmic Funk project KAGAMI (formerly known as ROTEM), IKNOWNOA and Sunburst Club, in which he effortlessly combines silky and mellow sounds with forward-thinking, progressive elements.
His musical influences span decades, from the disco grooves of the 70s and 80s inspired by artists like Quincy Jones and Tatsuro Yamashita to the smooth R&B of the 90s influenced by Babyface and Teddy Riley, as well as embracing the innovative productions of modern artists like Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams.
In the past three years, Lucas Sim has released and produced approximately 33 songs, showcasing a unique futuristic sound and innovative production techniques. Live, he performed twice on stage at the Melkweg, gave a sold-out EP release show at Paradiso, was selected for the Popronde final show, headlined the Eendracht Festival and provided an aftershow for Louis Cole and the Metropole Orchestra at TivoliVredenburg.
In addition, he has been heard several times on major national radio stations such as NPO 3FM and has achieved a listing in the J-WAVE Hot 100 chart in Tokyo, Japan.
