Loek van den Berg Quintet

The Loek van den Berg Quintet keeps you on the edge of your seat with their narrative compositions, improvisations and masterful control of their instruments. Their music leaves no one untouched! The quintet is built on a strong bond of friendship, and you can clearly hear that in the music.

In 2019, the Loek van den Berg Quintet made their debut on stage. Since then, they have performed throughout the Netherlands and traveled to India, Spain and Malta. Their album Wayfarer was awarded the Edison Jazz Award in the Newcomer National category, and in 2022, Loek won the prize for best composition in the Dutch Jazz Competition with the title track of this album.

Over the years, the quintet has developed its own style, characterized by Loek's melodic and melancholic compositions. Yet everyone in the band is equal. All five band members have their own voice, which shines through the songs thanks to the space for personal interpretation, improvisation and interaction. In LantarenVenster they present their new album Seafarer, which will be released in January on ZenneZ Records.
