Lo Capitano

A deeply moving journey of two teenage boys, who leave their family in Senegal to pursue their dream of a better life in Europe.

Inspired by myths and true stories, director Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah, Dogman) takes the viewer on a deeply moving journey in Io Capitano of two teenage boys who leave their family in Senegal to pursue their dream of a better life in Europe.

Their modern-day Odyssey takes them through the suffocating desert and across the stormy sea. They begin their journey as humans, but are quickly transformed into commodities for the human traffickers, their dreams, hopes and ambitions making way for a fight for survival.
