LIVE @WORM - Soon To Expire, Gulls Of Rot, Croptopcore
New year, new LIVE @ WORM.
This program edition will offer a sonic taste of nuclear radio with improvised performances ranging from Doom and Opera to Gabber. Curated by hiddenbehindmist.
Soon To Expire
The good side of weird. The black and white era opera extravaganza. The sound you'd hear if your grandmother were spiked with acid before her cabaret show. Going against the time itself by reviving what was once lost.
The Dutch/Lithuanian project Soon to Expire creates hauntology (the idea that elements from the social and cultural past return as a ghost) based on recordings from the 1920s. The typical crackle of outdated sound recording technologies hides in cheerful, usually danceable music, which the couple further manipulates and lets the noise flood in. Thanks to theatrical opera vocals, they descend into a distinctive cabaret full of fantastic revelations and dark hints.
Gulls of Rot
Gulls of Rot is an experimental duo based in Rotterdam NL. Driven by their love of improvisation, doom, and psychedelia, the duo explores distorted landscapes through heavy rhythms, accompanied by live improv visuals.
Croptopcore
Don't google it unless you wanna buy crop tops. This group from Brussels plays gabber music teared to pieces with brutal kicks, semi-soft melodies, unashamed synths, and a fiery guitar. Raving on one leg. Free core!
Casper Van De Velde together with Sam De Clercq (bontridders, brorlab), Alan van Rompuy (azertyklavierwerke, Vieze Meisje), Sylvain Haenen (Ekk & Fievel is Glaucque) and myself (schntzl, Bombataz). The project is called Croptopcore and consists of drums , synths, guitar and vocals. We make improvised music, loosely based on gabber, hardcore and eurodance.
