Lavinia Meijer

Lavinia Meijer is one of the most versatile harpists of our time. She has collaborated with famous composers such as Philip Glass (Koyaanisqatsi, the Hours) and Ludovico Einaudi (Intouchables, Black Swan) and shared the stage with them. She has also performed with the legendary Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, Olafur Arnalds and Sufjan Stevens. Inspired by the music of Philip Glass – which she arranged with the composer's approval – she has made harp music popular for a large audience. Her albums are released worldwide and have won two Edison Awards and have achieved platinum status twice. Her solo albums have been streamed more than 100 million times on Spotify alone. This makes Lavinia Meijer one of the international top artists with the most classical music streams. For tonight she has put together a special program, this time with multi-instrumentalist Reyer Zwart, with whom she also performed at Amsterdam Dance Event 2024. The program includes music by Philip Glass, Meredith Monk, Lavinia Meijer, Wim Mertens, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens. Reyer Zwart performs as a bass guitarist, double bassist, guitarist and pianist and has played with Daniël Lohues, Jacqueline Govaert, Stéphanie Struijk, Anne Soldaat and Tim Knol. He toured for many years with cabaret artist Claudia de Breij and has been musical director at Freek de Jonge since 2012. He composed a number of songs for soprano Francine van der Heijden and produced two albums by classical pianist Jan-Willem Rozenboom. For Lavinia Meijer he composed Amethyst for strings and harp.
