KNOCK, KNOCK
Knock, Knock is a film screening with short films that reinterpret relics from the past through a feminist lens, followed by a sonic performance by Janneke van der Putten.
Knock, Knock brings together a series of short films that look back to the past and re-contextualize it from a contemporary, feminist perspective. With stories set in domestic environments, native languages and national archives, the makers investigate the haunting origins of the present. Films by Zuzanna Banasinska, Keren Cytter, Che Go Eun, Helen Anna Flanagan and Alice Theobald, among others, touch on themes such as gender, cultural identity, technology and social structures. The evening concludes with a live vocal performance by Janneke van der Putten, who uses her voice and the space itself to create an immersive listening experience. Curator Helen Anna Flanagan connects all these elements into an evening full of visual stories, reflection and experiment.
