A Battleaxe is a scary, unpleasant older woman with a strong opinion. Katherine Ryan certainly has a strong opinion. In her stand-up shows she addresses all sorts of subjects, from recognizable home situations with her family to socially critical reflections: she always comes up with great jokes and sharp observations. Two years ago, Katherine Ryan also sold out PHIL during Comedy Stop Haarlem, and the entire audience was laughing at her feet.

Katherine Ryan is one of the hardest working comedians on the English comedy scene. The Canadian-born has lived in the United Kingdom for years and has conquered the world from there. She performs everywhere, makes TV shows, writes books and acts in series. For example, she can be seen in her Netflix series The Duchess, which she wrote and produced herself. Two of her specials can be seen on Netflix, and her most recent solo show Missus broke records on Sky TV. She shone in the UKTV series Parental Guidance, Comedy Central's Out Of Order with Judi Love and was a host in the Amazon Prime series Backstage with Katherine Ryan. Katherine Ryan wrote the book The Audacity, which immediately shot into the Sunday Times bestseller list. She also makes the podcast Telling Everybody Everything, which regularly tops the podcast charts.
