Jonathan Kreisberg Quartet

After six years, Jonathan Kreisberg returns to LantarenVenster. Jonathan is one of the most exciting musicians on the international jazz scene. The jazz guitarist, born in New York in 1972, has, in addition to his technically perfect playing, an extraordinary talent for writing magnificent compositions. Kreisberg has an impressive career. He has released ten albums under his own name, including a number on the Dutch label Criss Cross Jazz. He has also worked with artists such as Michael Brecker, Ari Hoenig, Stefano di Battista, Joe Henderson and Lee Konitz. And Jonathan had a permanent place in the band of Dr. Lonnie Smith (RIP) for more than seven years, with whom he also performed in LantarenVenster in 2010.

With his own group, the American travels the world to bring his unique style to the stage. Anyone who wants to hear a taste of his qualities should listen to his album Wave Upon Wave, or the album The South of Everywhere, where he effortlessly forges dynamic, self-written compositions and completely reworked standards into a powerful whole in a compelling way.

Kreisberg shows a deep respect for tradition, but his compositions stretch the standards considerably. The music challenges the possibilities of an acoustic jazz group, resulting in a musical journey that is rhythmically very deep and lyrically very urgent.
