Jimmy Granti ! Wie is Jimmy Granti ?

You see them everywhere: stickers, stencils, and posters of a face wearing a hoodie. These are the contours of Cor Eversteijn, the legendary Rotterdam boxer who, at the age of 17, fought at fairs under the name Jimmy Granti. The mysterious street artist who named himself after him places these images in cities like Rotterdam, Antwerp, Prague, Nunspeet, Moscow, and Paris. His goal is to remind people of Eversteijn, a boxer with an explosive style, a life lived without restraint, and an untimely end in 1983.

Jimmy Granti’s street art has made Eversteijn 'the talk of the town' once again. The image he uses is based on a 1983 photograph by Carel van Hees, who in 2011 held an exhibition at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen titled ‘Eversteijn, boxer and barber 1949-1983.’ A year later, Granti began spreading his iconic images throughout the city.

Gallery Robert van Oosterom in Baanhof is opening a unique exhibition that brings the world of Cor Eversteijn to life. Discover the story behind these images and step into a Rotterdam time machine of energy, music, photography, and art. The exhibition will be on display until December 20, 2024. Visit the website of Baanhof for the most up-to-date opening hours.
