Singer-songwriter Jaimee Harris is now seriously on her way to becoming one of the bigger singer-songwriters in the Americana-folk genre. After listening to her second album Boomerang Town, critics dared to say it out loud: this is the next queen of Americana-folk!
How does that sound?
Think songs of the caliber of Gretchen Peters, Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka, Greg Trooper, Slaid Cleaves and Mary Gauthier. In other words: Jaimee grabs you by the scruff of the neck.
The comparison with country-noir artist Mary Gauthier is not that strange. For a few years now, Jaimee and Mary have been a couple, both musically and amorously, and they often write together. For example, the gem How Could You Be Gone emerged from that.
It sounds like a heavy text, and it is, but Jaimee herself is anything but heavy with her nice anecdotes and always cheerful pink heart sunglasses on her nose.
