Ik zal zien

When 17-year-old Lot loses her sight in a fireworks accident, her world suddenly comes to a standstill. Her plans for the future seem to fall apart, while the world as she knew it changes forever. Despite her grief and frustration, Lot decides to fiercely resist her new vulnerability. She is sent to a rehabilitation center for the visually impaired, where she learns to deal with her loss. At first she is deeply unhappy, but over time she finds support from the caring team at the center, including Micha, a young man, and Ed, who acts as a father figure to her. But what Lot struggles with most are her vivid dreams, in which she can still see. In Ik zal zien, Mercedes Stalenhoef offers a cinematic view of life with blindness, without glossing over the difficulties. The film shows us the experience of blindness through the eyes of Lot, movingly played by Aiko Beemsterboer and supported by an enchanting sound design.
