Houd Moed!

This year marks the eightieth anniversary of the Rotterdam and Schiedam raids. On 10 and 11 November 1944, more than 50,000 men were rounded up and taken to Arbeitslager in Germany, where they were forced to work under often terrible conditions.

In the performance 'Houd Moed!' by Het Lage Licht, three young men tell how they were arrested during the raid and what they experienced in the German labor camps. The performance is based on stories of survivors, diaries and letters.

After the performance, spoken word artist KMR will connect the events of that time with the reality of today. Finally, volunteers from the Razzia Monument Rotterdam Foundation will talk to the audience about the experiences of fathers, grandfathers or uncles who were arrested at that time.
