About the life of Queen Wilhelmina and her marriage to Prince Hendrik.
Queen Wilhelmina is the great-grandmother of King Willem-Alexander. She reigned for fifty years (1898-1948).
In 1901 she married the German Duke Heinrich zu Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
As head of state she experienced two world wars. In the years 1940-1945 she lived in exile with the cabinet in London.
For Wilhelmina, kingship always meant an all-encompassing task, in the service of the Dutch.
This tragicomedy is about the life of Queen Wilhelmina and her marriage to Prince Hendrik: from her birth to her death.
In their own unique way, the players take the viewer back to times gone by, where they gain an insight into the eventful lives of Wilhelmina and Hendrik.
