Het Verre Woord | Sahand Sahebdivani
Sahand Sahebdivani (founder of Mezrab and Amsterdam Storytelling Festival) is the son of an Iranian revolutionary and breathes life into his old stories of resistance and flight. Stories that are - unfortunately - very relevant again due to the recent events in Iran.
This experimental non-linear narrative performance premiered at Oerol earlier last year and received a warm reception, partly because of the unique form in which the stories are presented to the audience. The performance was rewritten after the recent uprising in Iran.
About Sahand
Sahand Sahebdivani (1980) is co-director of the Amsterdam Storytelling Festival and the most famous storyteller in the Netherlands. He appears on many national and international stages with solo shows, performances he has created with Raphael Rodan and in larger ensembles. In 2004 he founded the Mezrab, which has since grown into one of the most important storytelling cafés in the world. Sahand arrived in the Netherlands at the age of three as a refugee from the war between Iran and Iraq. His and his family's experiences form the basis of most of his work.
