Heerenhuyskamerconcert - New Phoenix Ensemble

The concert program of the New Phoenix Ensemble 'Opera meets Burlesque' discovers the most hilarious trios of Mozart together with burlesque, in which the serious is treated light-heartedly and the frivolous seriously. You hear this for example in the circus-like music of Francis Poulenc's Sonata and the caricatural trio of Leone Sinigaglia.

The New Phoenix Ensemble was founded in 2018 by Letizia Elsa Maulà and Sylvia Cempini. What started as a trio, grew into a collective of international musicians with versatile programs in changing formations. The name Phoenix refers to Rotterdam, destroyed in the Second World War but rebuilt into a beautiful, dynamic and creative city.

The ensemble performs regularly throughout Europe, especially in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy. It has represented Italy at the Italian Embassy in the Netherlands and also gave a concert at the Dutch Consulate in Italy. Furthermore, the New Phoenix Ensemble has been heard several times on Dutch classical radio and has been seen in various television programs, such as NPO4, Cultuurshow, Tv Omroep West, OMNI News Toronto.
