Heerenhuyskamerconcert - Ausdauer

Ausdauer is a Rotterdam music theatre company that has been making performances about the world around us since 2014, in which they capture their own zeitgeist in music and theatre. In this concert they present their first album full of genuine Ausdauer hits, with the music of Igor Stravinsky, Olivier Messiaen and Galina Oestvolskaja as inspiration, mixed with a good dose of jazz and world music.

Over the past period, the musicians have worked hard to select and record the most beautiful pieces from their performances.

They chose music from the trilogy about the twentieth century that they made together with director and lyricist Paul Feld and actress Gabby Bakker. Three performances in which they went from the outbreak of WWI in Sarajevo (L'Histoire du Diable) and the American atomic tests (The God Squad) to the fall of the Wall and the rise of Vladimir Putin (Die Mauer).

It became a dizzying journey through a hundred years of Western history experienced through the eyes of a female protagonist.

For each performance, Ausdauer took an influential composer or specific composition from music history as a starting point. For l'Histoire du Diable, this was l'Histoire du Soldat by Igor Stravinsky, for The God Squad, the Quator pour la Fin du Temps by Olivier Messiaen, and for Die Mauer, the music of Russian composer Galina Ustvolskaja. Mixed with a generous dose of jazz and world music, the result is a special combination of styles, sounds and techniques that has developed increasingly clearly in recent years into an unmistakably unique 'Ausdauer sound'.
