Alqantara is a new musical collaboration between two top musicians: classical guitarist Ozan Saritepe and oud player Göksel Yilmaz. Together they form a dynamic duo that merges the rich, resonant tones of the guitar and the enchanting melodies of the oud.

Ozan and Göksel present a unique blend of harmonies that transcends cultural, geographical and historical boundaries and celebrates the beauty of diversity. Together they weave a tapestry of music that reflects traditions from the past while simultaneously expressing an innovative, fresh and modern expression.

Their repertoire spans continents, drawing on the passionate rhythms of Brazil and Argentina, the evocative melodies of Hungary, Spain and England, and the rich traditions of the Balkans, Turkey and the Arab world. They bring to life the work of legendary composers such as Dowland, Piazzolla, Lobos and Granados.

This concert not only marks the beginning of their musical collaboration, but also celebrates the shared history of these two instruments. The oud, with its roots in the Middle East, predates the guitar and laid the foundation for the development of many string instruments. The guitar, which originated in Spain, has become a versatile and popular instrument all over the world.

Guitarist Ozan Saritepe started playing classical guitar at the age of 15, today he is an internationally active recitalist, soloist and chamber musician. He is invited for concerts and masterclasses on international stages, festivals and conservatories.

Oud player Göksel Yılmaz is a versatile and virtuoso musician, bandleader, composer and arranger. He is influenced by traditional Turkish and Arabic music, but also by Western styles such as jazz, blues and classical music.
