Heerenhuyskamerconcert - Alexandra Alden
In 2021, Alexandra Alden performed at the Heerenhuys on the occasion of the release of her second album 'Leads to love'. Alden is currently putting the finishing touches to her new album 'When is it too late' on which she mixes indie, folk and pop music. Her songs are characterized by a hint of Mediterranean mysticism and poetry, but are at the same time worldly or even raw.
Alden says about her work:
' I've always listened to artists like Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, they've definitely influenced me. I give their classic folk sound my own twist thanks to my Mediterranean background, combined with the inspiration I get from all the other places I've visited in my life .'
On her upcoming album 'When is it too late' you will hear songs that deal with important questions such as 'Who am I? Where am I going? When is it ever too late to take a new path?'
The Maltese-born singer has been living in the Netherlands for some time, where she graduated from the jazz department of Codarts in Rotterdam in 2018. She has released two full-length albums and an EP so far; The Curious Child' (2013), Wild Honey (2018) and Leads to Love (2021) and has won awards both locally and internationally for her songwriting and cultural achievements. In addition, Alden has brought her music to live audiences in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Scandinavia, the UK, Malta and the US.
The press wrote about her second album 'Leads to Love':
“ Fragile and at the same time confident strong vocals and a good production without frills, fragility at its best. ” Indiestyle
“ This second album by Alexandra Alden radiates a purity and love for real music that is sometimes missed in today's enormous offering. ” Writteninmusic
