Heerenhuysconcert - Fran & Carolina Band

Jazz ensemble in the style of the Great American Songbook

The Fran & Carolina Band is a jazz ensemble that writes its own compositions in the style of the Great American Songbook.

The core of the band is formed by pianist Francisco Rodriguez from Venezuela and Spanish-Scottish singer Carolina Gemmell. These musical friends write new jazz compositions with refined musical craftsmanship. In this they give a fresh touch to the style that we know from the Great American Songbook, the well-known collection of the most successful American jazz and light music from the 20th century.

Francisco Rodríguez began his studies in Madrid and is currently finishing his bachelor's degree in Jazz Piano at Codarts Rotterdam. Francisco has become an active figure in both the jazz and Latin music scenes, where he has contributed to bands such as Jong Metropole Orkest, Codarts World Orchestra, Conjunto Papaúpa, Joe Cuba Legacy Septet, Boy G Mendes and the Eva Serrano Group.

Carolina Gemmell's passion for jazz led her to study singing in the Netherlands at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. She actively participates in various musical projects, ranging from Brazilian to indie pop, all while maintaining a strong commitment to the Jazz and Soul traditions. She writes the lyrics for the songs of the Fran & Carolina Band.

In this concert they are accompanied by Eva Serrano on double bass and David Puime on drums, both from Spain and very active in the jazz world, where they performed separately at the North Sea Jazz Festival and played together with Benjamin Herman and Miguel Rodriguez, among others.
