Gaucho Gaucho

Gaucho Gaucho shows in beautiful black and white the traditional, proud and simple life of Argentine gauchos, deeply connected to their animals and land.

Gaucho Gaucho is a visually stunning documentary that takes you to the vast pampas of northwestern Argentina, where a community of gauchos clings to age-old traditions. Shot in beautiful black and white, the film captures not only the impressive landscapes and the rugged existence of these South American cowboys, but also the deep bond they have with their horses, cattle and land. Documentary filmmakers Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw, known for The Truffle Hunters, focus their lens on both the heroic and intimate moments within the community. We see young Jonny listening wide-eyed to his father's wisdom, 17-year-old Guada who wants to compete with the men in the rodeo, and the elders who, as guardians of tradition, pass on stories to the next generation. As in their previous work, the filmmakers manage to capture a tranquil world that is in danger of disappearing in an increasingly modern society. Gaucho Gaucho is an ode to a way of life rooted in simplicity, pride and togetherness – a film that not only enchants with its images, but also moves with its stories.
