Ga mee op tijdreis op Buitenplaats De Tempel in Rotterdam
During a walk of over an hour on one of the last remaining country estates of Rotterdam, two volunteer forest rangers will take you back in time and afterwards you will get coffee or tea with a locally produced delicacy. While walking you will pass through the different garden styles and the park forest and you will hear everything about this green national monument. Did you know that a former mayor of Rotterdam lived here at the end of 1700?
Discover the new public park
In all seasons, this undiscovered gem in Rotterdam Overschie is beautiful to discover due to its diversity of vegetation and the fauna present. For example, the oldest oak in Rotterdam stands on this estate, the kingfisher - in addition to forty other bird species - also has a home in the area and even the protected red bat nests here! Natuurmonumenten has only recently taken over the management of the area and there is more and more to see.
On your own?
Are the times of the walks not convenient? Then know that the gardens of this historic country estate are publicly accessible during daylight; you can always discover it yourself. Get out of the city and discover the greenery on the northern edge of Rotterdam! Do you want to come with a large group or organize an event? Then contact the forest ranger well in advance via rotterdam@natuurmonumenten.nl.
