Folk Songs by Elisabeth Hetherington 100 years of Berio with the DoelenEnsemble
Luciano Berio was an exceptional composer. His work consists mainly of experimental and electronic works, but among them you will find one cycle that stands out from the rest: the Folk Songs. A beautiful cycle with folk songs from all over the world.
In 2025, Berio would have turned 100 years old. Up-and-coming Canadian-Dutch soprano Elisabeth Hetherington and the DoelenEnsemble delve into his Folk Songs for this occasion. They supplement Berio's cycle with their own selection of folk songs, because Berio himself was far from finished:
