Fiori Collective

In recent years it has become clear that female jazz musicians are making a huge advance. A brand new formation of top musicians with only women is the Fiori Collective, a sensational international quartet, composed of successful and promising jazz musicians from Finland, America and Germany.

Kaisa Mäensivu is a Finnish bassist and bandleader who leads her own group Kaisa's Machine and performs worldwide at renowned jazz venues, such as last year at North Sea Jazz.

Nicole McCabe is a versatile saxophonist and composer from Los Angeles, active in the jazz scene with her own band and in collaborations. McCabe started young, teaching music in high school.

Just like Kaisa and Nicole, up-and-coming vibraphonist Sasha Berliner also performed at North Sea Jazz last year, where she turned the Yenisei hall upside down. The Californian walked the challenging path from rock drummer to vibraphonist.

German top drummer Eva Klesse completes the quartet. The pieces they play tonight are so new that there are no recordings of them yet. In any case, expect a powerful mix of these award-winning jazz musicians.
