Films op Zuid: Book and Knife

Soto or saoto is a soup that is eaten throughout Indonesia and Suriname. The recipe differs from cookbook to cookbook, each with its own cultural-historical background. As if in a culinary wajang game, we see three women prepare different recipes from classic cookbooks published between 1902 and 1967, ending with the soto/saoto as restaurant Warung Mini serves today.

During the screening of Book and Knife, attendees will work on developing a character. How do you build a character and how do you further develop it? It considers the various creative choices that can be made and for what reasons.

The workshop is given in English. The film is in Indonesian and Dutch, with English subtitles. There is limited capacity, so reserve your places in advance.
