Filmcursus - Filmcomponisten
Repeated due to success! For four evenings we immerse ourselves in iconic film music by the grandmasters John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat and Ennio Morricone.
Film music is part of our film experience. It strengthens our emotions and gives the film images an extra (un)conscious layer. The right combination of melodies, harmonies and rhythms evoke tension, joy, sadness or fear in us. Film music brings scenes to life and creates a certain atmosphere that strengthens storylines even better. When the film score is really special, beautiful and/or iconic, it can even transcend the images we see. How else do you look at Once Upon a Time in the West if you leave out the film music? Doesn't the tension of a film like Jaws become a lot less when you don't hear those iconic bass tones? How do you support those crazy settings and atmosphere in Grand Budapest Hotel? And the use of church organs makes watching a science fiction film like Interstellar an almost religious experience!
For four evenings, you will be immersed in beautiful, unforgettable film music. We will examine four leading film composers who have defined our viewing experience, shaped our youth and become part of our collective memory. We will dive into the film music of geniuses John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat and Ennio Morricone!
