Specimens of all more than 10,200 bird species are stored in museums worldwide. Also in our museum! The number of bird species is still increasing. Thanks to science. Some 'new' species turned out to have been lying unnoticed in a drawer for more than 100 years. Discoveries are being made all the time with DNA techniques and the internet.
