The film is based on the bestseller of the same name by Arthur Japin, which was a huge success with a 72nd edition and translations in no fewer than 22 countries. Japin also co-wrote the English-language film script. Director Michiel van Erp ( Stromboli, Nobody in the City ) brings the story to life with Maarten Heijmans, Jonah Hauer-King and Dar Zuzovsky in the leading roles.
