De gekte aan de macht VPRO Presenteert…

Presenter Sophie Derkzen seeks advice from a pack of professional disrupters. Roel Maalderink and his brother Jos, makers of the satirical show Plakshot, sing their way through the new political reality. Rapper Elmer stamps out her frustration about flatland Netherlands.

Theatre maker Damaris de Jong and her vlogging alter ego KONT will be there. Storyteller Sahand Sahebdivani will talk about his performance Verzet! And Medialab will investigate the dynamics between activists and the police during the student protests this spring. So get off your couch for an evening full of live music, engagement and other much-needed fun.

VPRO presents… Meet our makers on a stimulating, interactive evening full of music, imagination and good conversations.

About the guestsSophie Derkzen

He also presented the De Speld Podcast for the satirical website De Speld. Together with his brother Jos, he has been making the satirical program Plakshot for a few seasons now.

Jos Maalderink

Elmer

Elmer combines provocative rawness, disarming honesty and the colourful world of comic books in a shameless act that brings a long-awaited breath of fresh air to the Dutch music scene. Elmer touches on themes such as fear of commitment, self-hatred and the hypocrisy of the leftist, always in combination with humour, self-mockery and filthy lyrics.

Elmer wants to break with the expectations of what a (female) artist should sound and look like, and thus make the Dutch music scene more diverse.

Damaris de Jong

Damaris de Jong is a versatile actress and creator. In 2020 she graduated from the Amsterdam Theater School and Cabaret Academy. Damaris effortlessly transforms into different roles as an actress and is playful, comical and sensitive.

Her great imagination makes her a good player but also a creator with always new ideas. She founded COLLECTIET and made several solos: La Mentira (Marieke Ornelis), KONT and BEAUTYBOMB (Catoo Lustig).

Sahand Sahebdivani

Sahand Sahebdivani is co-director of The Amsterdam Storytelling Festival and the most famous storyteller in the Netherlands. In 2004 he founded the Mezrab which has since grown into one of the most important storytelling cafés in the world. Sahand arrived in the Netherlands at the age of three as a refugee from the Iran-Iraq war. The experiences of him and his family form the basis of most of his work.
