Harry Belafonte is unfortunately no more. He died in 2023 at the age of 96. Fortunately, Leoni Jansen, Izaline Calister, Thijs Borsten and Roël Calister have made a performance about him. It is unbelievable what has changed in his life and in his century. This versatile, involved man deserves a musical tribute.

Almost everyone knows Harry Belafonte as the handsome singer of catchy songs like Island in the Sun, Matilda and Day-O. But there is much more: until his death, Belafonte spoke out firmly and humorously about political wrongs and inequality. He organized and financed demonstrations for the Civil Rights Movement, played in the first film in which a black man had a relationship with a white woman and became an ambassador for UNICEF.
