The Marines Museum is organizing in-depth lectures on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April about the crucial moments leading up to the Second World War and the strategic significance of the Maas bridges for the course of the war in the Netherlands and Rotterdam. Including a unique guided visit to the roof of the White House

Speakers of the Battlefield Tour Battle for the Maas Bridges will delve deeper into the rise of Adolf Hitler and the international tensions that resulted in a European arms race during the lecture. Questions such as: "What measures did the Netherlands take in response?" and "Which military events specifically took place in Rotterdam?" will be addressed during the lecture. After the lecture, you will visit the interactive model in the Marines Museum together with the speaker. This model brings the intense battle of the May days in 1940 in Rotterdam to life, supported by light and sound effects, diary fragments and historical images. But what does all this mean for the city today? The lecture will conclude with an exclusive visit to the adjacent roof of the White House , from where the historical battlefield can be viewed from today's perspective.
