Film by Daniele Luchetti (Mio fratello è figlio unico) revolves around a classic premise: an older teacher who has an affair with a student. Secrets are shared. What consequences can they have? This film is about the difficult, painful side of relationships. Music by Thom Yorke (of Radiohead) undoubtedly helps with the atmosphere. The film is an adaptation of the bestseller by Domenico Starnone (published in Dutch under the title “Geheimen”).

Pietro is a respected teacher and Teresa is his brilliant young student. After graduating, they have an affair and move in together. One day, Teresa suggests that they tell each other a secret so embarrassing or shocking that, if made public, it would destroy the person's life. Time passes, Pietro's status as a writer has grown, and he is married with two grown daughters. But in his mind, he is haunted by the possibility that Teresa will one day reappear and turn his world upside down with the secret he once confided to her...
