Chef

Chef (Favreau, 2014) is a culinary comedy about top chef Carl Casper who lives for his work. When he is criticized by a restaurant critic, he vents his frustration on Twitter. He does not realize that everyone can read his response, which leads to a media frenzy. His ex-wife advises him to buy a food truck and go back to basics: honest and tasty food that makes people happy. With his son and a former colleague, he travels through the southern states of America and rediscovers his joy in cooking. The film is spoken in English and has Dutch subtitles.

Food plays a big role in this film and the dishes are varied and 'delicioso'. The food is a mix of Cuban and American cuisine. Comfort food made with love (just like in the film) and you can taste it. Chef Roy Choi from Los Angeles was the culinary coach of this film, he perfected the dishes in the film. Our own chef lets her guests enjoy this.

What you see is what you eat. At exactly the same time, you eat what is eaten in the film. The culinary script of Cinema Culinair is leading for the chef and the service. Good film + good food + great timing. The punchline is in the latter. An example. When Chef Carl Casper eats his home-made Cubano at 1 hour, 14 minutes and 53 seconds in the film, we want our guests to be able to taste this dish at the same time. A minute earlier or later makes the difference between good and fan-tas-tic! Ultimately, it is about not only seeing or hearing that film, but also tasting and feeling it.
