Carmina Burana
One of the most popular masterpieces of the 20th century!
Carmina Burana is based on a collection of lyric poems and was composed by Carl Orff between 1935 and 1936. This masterful work was first presented in 1937 at the Frankfurt Opera and has captivated audiences ever since and left no one unmoved. The most famous part "O Fortuna" which is repeated at the end of the piece is world-famous today.
These sacrilegious and Latin songs, performed by choirs and soloists, tell us a story about life and death, fate and above all love. About 100 artists sing about the joy of the return of spring and the delights of alcohol, play with the wheel of fate, dance love and lust. This new production seizes the sensuality and emotion of this musical phenomenon to show that music, movement and speech are inseparable.
