Boekpresentatie Lex Bohlmeijer Muziek is een hart dat alles weet
The moving life story of pianist Marietta Petkova.

Author Lex Bohlmeijer talks about his book. Paul Janssen, editor-in-chief of Luister, speaks.
Marietta Petkova (Roese, 1968) is an exceptional pianist who lives in music. She has more than twenty CDs to her name, including a number of acclaimed ones, and they are almost all live. A rarity. Petkova grew up a stone's throw from the Danube, when Bulgaria was still under a communist regime. After a long wandering, she settled in Almere for love. Music is a heart that knows everything is a chronicle of her turbulent and often moving adventures. It tells about the competitions that took her abroad for the first time as a teenager; about the two teachers who were diametrically opposed in their methodology and between whom Petkova found herself: Jan Wijn, who was admired in the Netherlands, and the Hungarian pianist and pedagogue György Sebök. He is the man who 'gave eyes to her heart'. Another remarkable figure: Leo de Klerk, a brilliant recording engineer who was her lover for ten years, until his far too early death in 2020. In the meantime, we meet a number of composers who are dearest to Petkova: Chopin, Schumann, Bach and others. Music is a heart that knows everything gives insight into the magic and the elusiveness of music itself.
Lex Bohlmeijer (1959) studied Literary Studies and Dramaturgy in Leiden. He presents the successful program Passaggio Late Night (KRO-NRCV). In addition, he has been making podcasts for De Correspondent for ten years: Goede Gesprekken.
