Better Joy is Bria Keely’s solo project, but she’s backed up live by an excellent band. Her vibrant, uplifting indie pop is reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers, mixed with the infectious hooks of The Cure and the melodrama of The Smiths. With a voice that’s as tender as it is powerful—as confident and prominent as Debbie Harry’s—she marries vulnerable storytelling with sparkling guitar riffs, playful bass lines, and characterful drums.
Better Joy recently supported Hard-Fi on tour and has already caught the attention of BBC Radio 6's Chris Hawkins, who named her one of his favourite acts of 2024. With only a handful of singles released, she's only just getting started, but with new music and an upcoming EP, the future looks bright for Better Joy.
