After the death of his mother, Rein leaves for a small village in the Alps where he starts working as a snowboard instructor. His quiet life is disrupted when his extrovert father Gijs comes to visit and casts a dominant shadow over his life. While the nature around them becomes increasingly challenging, their personal conflict also escalates into a struggle for survival. The mutual glances and gestures of the Scholten van Aschats are those of a real father and son, both playing at the top of their game. Filmmaker Jan-Willem van Ewijk uses this overwhelming natural beauty to lure inner worlds to the outside, as he did before in Pacifica. (2024) and Atlantic. (2015).
